A Long Time Ago...

It has been quite some time...years actually...since I last posted anything on this blog.  Maybe now is a time to get back at it.

The past year has been a year that won't soon be forgotten.  Last summer we packed our things, and moved the family to Edmonton.  While this move was met with excitement, it has also been met with very challenging times.

It's tough, settling into a new city.  I've got the escape of going to work every day, where I can socialize with people, and get to know them.  Lindsay doesn't have it as easy as I do, which is why things have been tough.

We left a great community, in Lethbridge, complete with amazing friends.  We've stayed in contact, and visited several times over the year, with each visit causing our heart's to ache for what we are now missing.

The positive of going through this season, has been a closer to step to God.  We've been yanked so far outside of our comfort zones, that we can't help but learn to rely on Him day to day.  It's so easy to get lost in what the world offers, and allow that seed of doubt to grow, but we remain focused.

Stepping out of our comfort zones, and in turn growing closer to God, was a large part of why we moved.  We wanted to go somewhere where we could fully immerse ourselves in what God wants for our lives...I just don't think we thought it would be such a challenge.  Silly us, right?

Lately I've been drawn to Psalm 119:9-16...I feel as though it is serving as a reminder to why we decided to step out in faith in the first place.

'How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word
I seek you with all my heart,
do not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
Praise be to you, O Lord, teach me your decrees.
With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth.
I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches.
I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.
I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word.'
